I have had an obsession with Iceland ever since my trip there three years ago. It was a magical, wonderful place, filled with lunar landscapes and incredibly incomprehensible changes in terrain. Of course, there are several glaciers in Iceland that took my breath away and I did a tribute to glacial ice for Light Grey Art Lab’s upcoming Macro & Micro Exhibition (This Friday from 7 - 10pm at Light Grey Art Lab).It was a really fun drawing to make and I got a kick out of giving it a warm, dusk-like lighting. It seemed that the sun set for hours while we were there, and that the sun didn’t dip down until well after 10pm. I am taking a trip there with Chris Hajny and Francesca Buchko (who are also in the Macro & Micro exhibition) this coming June. I can’t wait! It should be a real adventure! If you are interested, this piece is for sale in the Light Grey Shop as an archival giclee print through the end of the exhibition! You can also take a look at all of the other awesome art by the other 90+ international artists, too!

It’s been a very rough week. I am taking commissions to help pay for some unexpected, and expensive medical treatment for my sweet kitty, Oliver. He was just diagnosed with cancerous tumors and I am trying to do anything I can to fight it. He’s a funny, energetic boy and a fighter. He is currently undergoing chemo and any help is appreciated. If you are interested in a custom piece of nice artwork, I’ve set up a small online shop here: lindsaynohl.bigcartel.comIf you know anyone that would like a nice gift, or maybe one for yourself, I’d happily make something special for you in exchange for your help. Thank you so much and please help me spread the word. If you are interested in donating, but would not like a piece of artwork I’ve also set up a donation button on my website.:http://lindsaynohl.com/Treatment-for-OliverThanks so much, you guys. I’m doing custom botanical illustrations, typography, and patterns.questions? send me a note : lindsay@paperbicycle.com

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR THIS CALL FOR ART!!
We’ve all been at the beginning of an enormous challenge, our heads full of anxiety and excitement and self-doubt. The ones that make it big know how to ignore all of that stuff and get to the heart of what’s real.
Maybe you’re one of those people. Time to tell it like it is. Tell us what gets you through the good times and the bad times.

POSTER SHOW CALL FOR ART!Submit by April 17th!But not just any posters! We’re looking for artists and designers interested in creating gorgeous type-centric words of wisdom, encouragement and pieces with an all-around ‘you can do it’ flavor! Humorous, serious, inspirational or even words meant as ‘tough love’ are all fair game.Remember that kitten poster from the early 90s? ‘Hang in there?’ I used to look up at that poster on my wall and say “You’re right, kitten! If you can hang in there, so can I!”Think of all of the people you can inspire to make work, do things, keep going, and feel good about doing so! For the duration of this show you are a drillmaster. You’re a cheerleader. You’re that Successories plaque with an eagle flying over a mountain. You can smack us in the knuckles with your ruler. Pick us up by the bootstraps and shake our shoulders until we get up and get stuff done! Yeah, we may be hard-headed, or sensitive, or lazy…. or maybe we just need a little bit of encouragement — but we all need something telling us that we can do it if we put our backs into it. (Yes, I realize that song isn’t exactly about working… but you get the idea.)The whole month of June at Light Grey will be focused around the idea of doing more, getting things done and staying motivated. We’ve got some great lectures and topics planned for you guys. Each poster will be hung (of course!) in our gallery in Minneapolis as well as featured online on our site, and on the shop! The show will be happening mid-June through mid-July! (Dates to come shortly!)So, if you’re interested in making a poster for our upcoming motivational poster-show, please leave your name, email and website in the blog entry comments. We’ll be announcing the final list of artists after the 17th! You can do it! :)
